Metal Smithing- working with metal, is so much fun with the use of these wonderful Deco Emboss and Deco Etch folders
from Vintaj. They are made in conjunction with Sizzix so they will work in any of your Sizzix machines. I have
a Cuttlebug and they also work in that.
Vintaj does make a line of brass blanks you can use with these- but here are Articus Studio, we carry a number of brass
blanks that you can use and the pricing is so much better allowing you to create wonderful and unique projects for Christmas,
gifts, birthdays, anniversarys in jewelry, scrapbooking, frames, books, etc. Earrings are a wonderful and easy use with
the Deco Emboss or Deco Etch Vintaj dies.

This is the look you get using the Deco Emboss dies- deeper raised design.
Brass Blanks to use with the Vintaj Deco Emboss or Deco Etch Sizzix Dies.
The Articus Studio brass blank dies are the same ones used by Vintaj except Vintaj has added a dark
copper patina to theirs. They are the same thickness and some of the shapes are the same, some different. I have
used them in the Vintaj blanks with complete success.
You may color your blanks with acrylic paints, run them through the die and sand some of the color from
the raised area by using sand paper- whether it is in the form of Vintaj brand, Tim Holtz Sanding Grip, our Lucky Squirrel
block, etc. You can also use the green sink scrubby for your pots & pans- I often use that to brighten and clean
metal. You could also use a metal nail file. You can use what you have around the house to achieve the same look.
You can color your brass blanks with alcohol inks and then use acrylic paint or dabbers over that.
The varieties of looks you can achieve is virutally endless. You can have many different looks on your metal with just
one Vintaj die- just depends on where you place your metal blank on the design.
My favorite look has been with the Deco Embossing folder Dies. I like the Deco-Etch, but I think for
what I like to do- the embossing folders do it for me. Just a matter of preference.
Vintaj Deco Emboss Die-Woodland Birds~ These die presents as a little folder- so you place your metal
blank over the area you want to capture, fold it down and run through your machine. The die itself measures 2 1/2" wide
and 2 3/8" high in the folded position.
Vintaj Deco Emboss Die-Moonlit Night~ Deco Embossing Die, creates raised design in your metal.
Vintaj Deco Emboss Die- Butterfly Swirls~ Creates raised design on your brass blanks.
Vintaj Deco Emboss Die- Dragonfly Pond~ Creates raised areas on blank brass and other malleable metal.
The Vintaj Deco Etch dies create more of an impression on the brass blanks. If you want a design stamped
into the metal- this one will work for you. Again, our brass blanks work beautifully with the dies and you get more
for your money. You can color them with patina solutions on the market, household supplies, acrylic paints and glazes,
alcohol inks, and more.
